Outside the Not So Big House
Project featured in the book “Outside the Not So Big House”. Designed and installed by Siteworks Design Group.
Chosen from submissions across the United States, Siteworks’ design and installation for a traditional homes’ small side garden in Beaufort mad the pages of the book “Outside the not so big house” written by best selling author Sarah Susanka.
As stated by the author, “This house exhibits such a beautiful integration of landscape and building, with the two aspects interconnecting throughout the property, that Julie and I instantly knew it belonged in this book. Its parts extend out into the site, where plantings grow abundantly over and through them to create a sense of cloistered sanctuary – proof that you don’t need acres to attain a sense of seclusion.”
As seen on the books cover, a formal garden was created at the side of the home, complete with circular brick fountain, brick pathways and climbing rose trellis. Throughout, traditional southern plantings were employed.
